Ubisoft Admits Constraints in Mission Structure of Previous Assassin's Creed Installments

The new Assassin's Creed Mirage is slated to be a return to roots, narrowing its scope and focusing more strongly on stealth and parkour over sprawling RPG mechanics. However, the title is set to retain the mission structure introduced in the Assassin's Creed Origins game, permitting players to incrementally complete various objectives.

Simon Arsenault, the Quest and World Director for the game, explained to Gamereactor that the return to a more linear, scripted mission structure would heavily limit the game world's reactivity and fluidity. The older mission structures requiring players to stay within boundaries or face mission failures were seen as "old school" and "constraining". Arsenault notes feeling liberated with the absence of these constraints. However, he did reveal that a few scripted sequences have been introduced to the game, but these instances are far and few.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to release on October 5, for a range of devices including PC, PS4, PS5, and both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
