Rockstar Did Not Hold a GTA 6 Event in October; Fans Disappointed

When earlier this year Rockstar confirmed it had already begun working on Grand Theft Auto VI, the company didn’t say much. Fans expected the publisher to announce the game officially during the event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. This didn’t happen, though, and the community is openly disappointed.
This disappointment stems out of the popular misconception that the original Grand Theft Auto was released on October 21, 1997. This led to expectations, mostly to those of an event Rockstar would hold to commemorate the origins. And when these expectations failed, it turns out Rockstar is not the one to blame.
It would come as a revelation to many GTA fans, but the first game in the franchise was indeed released in late November of 1997. At least, Colin Anderson, one of its developers, reviewed his emails from that time and came up with the real release date: it’s November 28, 1997. What does it mean in practice? It means that it’s not too late for Rockstar to hold an event and announce the game officially.
Given how rich a leak happened this fall, showing incredible masses of gameplay footage and other data, hardly will this announce do any harm to Rockstar’s plans (unless the company is insane enough to redo everything from scratch to neutralize the leak; then how can it be sure it won’t happen again?) We already know there will be just one location – Vice City and its surroundings. There will be two protagonists – Jason and Lucia, which will be the first ever female protagonist in the history of the franchise. And the control system will be similar to GTA V, so you ca switch between characters.
Are you expecting the official announcement in November? If so, what do you want to see or hear? An official trailer? Gameplay footage? Stills and story details? Tell us what you expect in the comments!
