TikTok Added New Features With Huge Potential

Instagram is trying to become more like TikTok. To retain a young audience, IG copies much of the content and many features of the competitor's platform. Perhaps, this is the reason why the Chinese giant has added Photo Mode, which could bring new opportunities and further worsen the position of Instagram.

A new feature on TikTok invites users to add still photos, creating a carousel. In fact, it looks the same as Instagram. The main difference is that the Chinese platform also offers to add a soundtrack to the photo carousel. Although this seems to be more of a provocation, the new feature could offer even more options for TikTok users. Now they have another option to create different web trends. It is unlikely that the carousel will have the same purpose as in the IG. Over time, TikTok users will be able to adapt it in new ways, for example, by creating meme collections.

In addition to the Photo Mode, the developers have increased the number of characters in the video captions to 2200. Previously, only 300 characters were available to content creators. Google recently stated that about 40% of young users are more likely to use TikTok or Instagram for search when the older generation is looking for information on Google. Therefore, using more keywords can also increase the significance of the platform.

Another useful update was the addition of new tools for editing clips before publishing them. TikTok is working on many fronts, offering users more creative options, making it easier to edit videos, and developing the search potential of the platform. This is likely to further increase the importance of the Chinese platform and create problems for IG.
