It is no secret that Android devices are prone to malware and viruses. In fact, there are more than two million malicious apps out there. And, with the number of Android users continuing to grow, that number is only going to increase.
A new WhatsApp mod has been spotted that is infecting Android devices with malware. The mod, which is called YoWhatsApp, is a modified version of the popular messaging app that has been created by a third-party developer.
One of the most popular messaging apps, WhatsApp, has been targeted by malware developers. A new malicious mod has been spotted that is infecting Android devices with the known Android Trojan Triada. This Trojan is particularly dangerous as it is able to gain root access to a device. Once it has root access, it can then execute any commands that it wants. This gives the attacker complete control of the device.
The mod is spread through unofficial channels, such as third-party app stores. Once it is installed, it will masquerade as the legitimate WhatsApp app. However, it will contain a malicious payload that will infect the device.
At the moment, it is not known how widespread this mod is. However, it is likely that it is only being used in targeted attacks. This is because the mod requires the attacker to have the victim's phone number.
WhatsApp is among the most popular messaging apps in the world, with over 1.5 billion users. However, the app has come under fire in recent years for a number of security and privacy issues. YoWhatsApp is just the latest example of how third-party developers are creating modified versions of popular apps that can be used to infect devices with malware.
If you are an Android user, then you should be extra careful about what apps you install. Only download apps from trusted sources, such as the Google Play Store. If you are unsure about an app, then do some research before you install it.
If you think that your device has been infected with this Trojan, then you should run a malware scan. There are many free malware scanners available for Android. Once you have found and removed the malware, you should change all of your passwords.
What do you think? How dangerous is this new mod? Will it be able to infect a large number of devices? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
