James Gunn has provided a fresh update regarding the production of his anticipated Superman film, coinciding with the completion of filming for one of the principal actors.Nicholas Hoult has concluded his work on the film and marked the occasion by giving his director a thoughtful wrap gift.
Gunn took to Threads to express his gratitude, posting a photo of a Superman comic book featuring Lex Luthor and Brainiac on the cover. There is a caption indicating the formidable alliance between the two villains. Gunn also clarified that while Hoult has finished filming, the production itself is still ongoing.
Hoult is set to portray Lex Luthor, the iconic businessman and adversary of Superman. He will be joined by David Corenswet, who takes on the role of Clark Kent, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Corenswet's casting has been met with positive remarks, noting his imposing presence and genuine purity, qualities that align well with the character of Superman.
The film's cast further includes Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, a colleague of Clark Kent at the Daily Planet. Additionally, House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock will debut as the DCU's Supergirl in the movie.
Superman marks the beginning of Gunn and producer Peter Safran's DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. However, before its release, audiences can look forward to the animated series Creature Commandos, which is set to premiere on Max later this year.
